And what is tongue tie division?
A tongue tie is a very short, or tight, lingual frenulum. The lingual frenulum attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth. With a tongue tie, tongue movement may be limited. This can contribute to breastfeeding difficulties for some babies. Having a tongue tie can occasionally cause problems with bottle feeding, weaning, speech and dental hygiene. However, many infants with a tongue tie have no problems at all.

Tongue tie division is a quick and easy procedure when performed on babies. The procedure involves wrapping the baby in a blanket, holding him or her still, and cutting the tongue tie. It is over in a couple of seconds. Some babies appear to feel the division, while others do not. Babies seem to settle very quickly and are usually keen to feed immediately after the procedure.

I offer tongue tie division in your home, as a Registered Midwife having received education in tongue tie division. In North Hertfordshire and Stevenage I charge £110 for the procedure, follow-up and help with breastfeeding. I cover a wide area outside of North Hertfordshire so please contact me for a price with no obligation to proceed.

I am happy to discuss the procedure with you, whether or not it is needed, and possible alternatives. Please call me if you would like to talk about this.
